Between 12 and 22 December 2023 the Drug Control and Enforcement Authority of Tanzania seized 1 488 kg of methamphetamine and 1 356 kg of heroin, valued at R931 918 824 — the largest seizure in the region’s record.
The picture left by the seizure kept working: on 1 January 2024, as a result of intelligence sharing with the DCEA, the TPC provided actionable information to South Africa that led to the interception of 8 kg of heroin in Limpopo.
